What is a stair lift?
- A stair lift is a motorized chair that safely transports you up and down stairs.
- It is ideal for the elderly, those with walking difficulties and people with physical disabilities – and can also be used for lighter transport such as laundry or shopping bags.
- Stairlift and chairlift are often used synonymously; on this page we use the term stairlift. For wheelchair users or those with greater level differences, we refer to platform lifts.

Stairlift and chairlift are often used to refer to the same type of solution: a chair that runs on a rail along the stairs. A platform lift has a platform and is especially used for wheelchairs and larger differences in level.
